Yellowstone National Park
Reel duration: 10’52”
The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River expresses the park’s complex geologic history in dramatic colors and shapes. Puffs of steam mark hydrothermal features in the canyon’s walls.
The Upper and Lower Falls of the Yellowstone River add to the grandeur of the unique natural treasure.
“… As I took in the scene, I realized my own littleness, my helplessness, my dread exposure to destruction, my inability to cope with or even comprehend the mighty architecture of nature.”

In late summer of 2012, I set out to capture the beauty of Yosemite National Park. In many respects, the filmic challenge that Yosemite presents was that it is grand and magnificent.
“A World Marvel! A pyramid of Nature! “It is easier to feel than to realize, or in any way explain, Yosemite grandeur. The magnitudes of the rocks and trees and streams are so delicately harmonized, they are mostly hidden.” in the words of John Muir.
In moments of quiet reflection, I sought to catch various views from the valley, stalking the shadows of its granite face for moments of subtle insight, and letting those quiet moment whisper Yosemite’s power and majesty.
